SWR Symfoniorkester - Klarinetkoncert

Until today, many legends have grown up around him, the young gunslinger Henry McCarty, known as Billy the Kid. Aaron Copland used the legend as a suitable figur to insert many cowboy songs and folk songs into this ballet music. In 1938, the "cowboy ballet" was played for the first time in Chicago. Also in the USA, a few years later Béla Bartók composed his Concerto for Orchestra, which gives all the instruments in the orchestra "solo" attention.

Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto is thought to be for a very specific solo musician: Nielsen greatly admired Aage Oxenvad. At this concert however, Kilian Herold is undertaking the daunting task of playing the solo clarinet in Nielsen's 'Clarinet Concerto'.
