Opposition til Nielsen: "Antikrist" - Rued Langgaards mysterieopera

There will be a duel of words, and two different outlooks on life and art will be illustrated when works by Rued Langgaard and Carl Nielsen, whose 150th birthday it is this year, confront each other in 15 arrangements during the Rued Langgard Festival in Ribe 3rd-6th September 2015.

The two performances of Rued Langgaard’s opera, Antikrist, will be central in the festival. After successful performances in Innsbruck (1999) and Copenhagen (2002), the work will be performed according to the composer’s own stage directions from the 1920s. In this way Antikrist will at last receive the “first performance” which Langgaard dreamt of.

Soloists: Signe Asmussen (soprano), Trine Bastrup Møller (soprano), David Danholt (tenor), Magnus Vigilius (tenor), Michael Kristensen (tenor), Jørn Petersen (baritone), Johannes Mannov (baritone) and bishop Elof Westergaard.
